Gentle seas. Whew. And sun and blue sky prevail. Beauty and order day, well, morning, on the boat. Our cat sheds. We didn't get around to shaking the rug or dusting the corners but did put all our stuff away again. We'd pulled out a lot in the 6 days we were stranded (!) here due to weather. Still can't find the charger for our electric toothbrushes. This could mean serious dental problems as we are lazy brushers when we have to do it by hand. The charger is on the boat. I've charged the toothbrushes 2 times since on the boat. I suspect I put it down to do something else...lost it.
People met yesterday: Lisa and Daniel on Obay (?), Craig and Susan maybe on Legacy.
We took homemade soup and brownies (what a meal) to our neighbor boat and had sandwiches/soup/brownies with Ken and Lisa on Quest. Then they spent great time with us looking at charts from NY to NC. What fun! Great information they shared and were so totally generous, telling us about their favorite spots and places to anchor. They'll come down when their son ships out in early November.
I'm pretty nervous about leaving tomorrow, traveling in the East River past Hell Gate, around Battery and up to 79th St. Boat Basin. It's just a crowded passage in unknown waters. David has done a great job of researching when and how, and confirmed that with more experienced travelers. Just nervous. When nervous I get pissy. So sorry.
Took the dinghy down to visit our friends. Put the dinghy up alongside the big boat for travel. Both cases, requires putting on or taking off the outboard motor. Quite a chore with block & tackle, small cargo net, impatience, hoisting, using my biceps. Ugh! Hope there is a water taxi at 79th St.
